Chocolate-Hazelnut Thumbprints

Ingredients

1/2 Cup butter, softened
1/2 Cup packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
1 Cup all-purpose flour
1/3 Cup chopped dark chocolate (2oz) or mini chocolate chips
*I actually used mostly semi-sweet since I ran out of dark chocolate
1/4 Cup chocolate-hazelnut spread, such as Nutella

Make It
Preheat oven to 350 F
Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper; set aside
Beat butter with electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds.
Add brown sugar and beat until well combined.
Beat in egg yolk, vanilla, and salt.
Beat in flour on low speed until dough comes together. (It may be crumbly at first)
Stir in chopped chocolate or chips.

Shape the dough into 24, 1 1/4 inch balls.
Arrange 2 inches apart on cookie sheets.
Use your thumb to make indents in each ball or ask your child to help.
Fill each with 1/2 tsp. chocolate-hazelnut spread.

Bake 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
Remove; let cool on wire racks.
